[The Enforcers]

Not sure what the Enforcers is/are/were? The Enforcers were amongst the first of the more politically motivated "hacktivist" groups to roam the Internet in the late 1990s. Founded by Cendie, Paul, Ahley, ShdowBoxn, and several other like-minded anti-racist activists, the group formed from the remains of #antinazi on the Undernet IRC network, quickly establishing a presence of their own on the Undernet alongside other groups of the time. Originally, the Enforcers targeted Nazi web sites using Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, public information campaigns (posting names/addresses of known racists on the Internet), and mass mailings to web servers and hosting companies that allowed Nazi material to exist on their machines. Other tactics that were used successfully included takeovers of Nazi channels and web sites and replacement of offensive material with harmless web pages. The Enforcers Network was formed shortly after the group's inception to provide a home base for the group at enforcers.net; sadly, the domain was lost to the high fees of InterNIC at the time. Over 100 unique personalities have, at one time or another, claimed membership within the ranks of the Enforcers. The Enforcers Network ceased all active operations in 1998 following the arrest and imprisonment of Analyzer and Makaveli.
